Lacey Chitwood serves as Chief Counsel, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and is responsible for leading the company’s environmental and health & safety programs and providing legal advice to senior management related to regulatory policy and relationship advocacy in federal and state forums. Ms. Chitwood is also responsible for leading the company’s ESG program, including initiatives promoting environmental and energy justice, sustainability, and clean energy.
Previously, Ms. Chitwood worked at North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) where she served in various roles, including compliance assurance and leading industry stakeholder groups in development of regulatory standards and submittal of legal petitions and FERC filings. Prior to NERC, Ms. Chitwood practiced as a litigation attorney at the Atlanta law firms of Hawkins, Parnell & Young, LLP, and Carlock, Copeland & Stair, LLP, representing clients in matters involving complex contract dispute, construction litigation, professional malpractice claims against engineers and architects, products liability, premises liability, and toxic tort (asbestos) claims.
Ms. Chitwood earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the Louisiana State University, E.J. Ourso College of Business, and a J.D. and Bachelor of Civil Law from the Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center. She is also a certified Project Management Professional.
