Making a Difference in Our Communities

At Stryten Energy, we believe in the power of giving back. Beyond delivering energy storage solutions, we’re committed to creating positive change in the communities we serve. Whether volunteering, supporting charitable organizations, or participating in community events, we strive to make a difference where it matters most – our community.

Supporting Our Military and Veterans

Rivers of Recovery

Rivers of Recovery is a national nonprofit that uses outdoor-based activities to effectively treat symptoms of post-traumatic stress, depression, and anxiety in combat veterans and active-duty military. The organization has achieved national media attention for its unique programs and results-driven treatments, which combine fly fishing and other outdoor activities with a scientifically designed curriculum of therapeutic techniques.
Through financial support, Stryten Energy enables Rivers of Recovery to expand its programming to more veterans and to continue its outdoor therapy research with Cornell University’s Department of Natural Resources.

Operation Gratitude

Through the Operation Gratitude organization, Stryten Energy employees support our active military and their families by making Battalion Buddies and hygiene kits.

Employees hand filled more than 200 Battalion Buddy bears that were distributed to the children of deployed service members. The cuddly Battalion Buddies wear tags that say, “I’m your Battalion Buddy, and I’m here to keep you company while your Mom or Dad is away. I’m so excited to join your family!”

Stryten Energy employees also assembled 500 hygiene care kits that were sent to troops deployed overseas.

Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America is an organization that honors our country’s veterans by placing wreaths on veterans’ graves during the holidays. Stryten Energy sponsors wreaths to be placed on veterans’ graves in Georgia. In addition to purchasing wreaths, our employees volunteer to place wreaths on graves at cemeteries in metro Atlanta, where veterans are laid to rest.

Keeping Our Communities Clean and Safe

Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day, our employees participate in various activities designed to enhance and protect our environment.

The Stryten Energy team in Fort Smith, AR, holds an e-waste recycling event on Earth Day. Employees can bring in old and non-working electronics, including computers, laptops, keyboards, servers, cell phones, power supplies, stereo equipment, gaming systems, cords, and cables, to be recycled. This event provides employees with an environmentally responsible way to recycle electronic waste and prevent it from polluting landfills.

As part of Earth Day, employees at our Kansas City, MO, plant participated in The Great Kansas City Cleanup to spruce up the grounds near the plant. The team picked up trash, trimmed bushes, and installed new mulch.

Adopt-a-Road

Multiple times each year, a team of employees from our Columbus, IN, plant participates in their community’s ‘Adopt-A-Road’ cleanup project. The employees collect bags of trash full of items, including car parts, beverage containers, roofing debris, and more.

Kansas City Clean-Up Project

Our Kansas City, KS, plant employees participated in the Fairfax District Volunteer Clean Up project to clean up the neighborhood around the plant. Keeping the area clean not only improves the look, but also keeps harmful items off the roads.

Community Engagement Events

Salina Tri-Rivers Parade

Every year, employees and family members from our Salina, KS, plant participate in the annual Tri-Rivers Parade, the official kick-off to the Tri-Rivers Fair. The Tri-Rivers Fair is a celebration of Salina County’s rural life and agricultural history and includes activities for all ages.

The Delaware County Fair

Stryten Energy employees in Manchester, IA, look forward to the annual Delaware County Fair. Starting with the kick-off parade where our Stryten Energy Jeeps roll through town, our team then hosts a booth at the fair to share what Stryten Energy is all about and how the company is supporting the community.

Supporting Children and Students in Our Communities

‘Hands to Heart’ Supports Kids in Need

Since 1994, Michael Bergen, an employee in Kansas City, Kansas, has played a huge role in serving kids in need during the Christmas season. In 1994, he established Hands to Heart, a not-for-profit and volunteer organization that delivers toys to low-income families throughout Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota. In the first year, he served about 50 kids. Now, 29 years later, his organization delivers toys to more than 11,000 kids in need during the holiday season.

Michael organizes motorcycle rides throughout the year and collects toys instead of an entry fee. In December, the real fun begins when Michael and his team of volunteers distribute all the toys to the children.

“What Michael can accomplish is incredible,” said Rodger Meyer, Senior Vice President of Operations. “I was able to volunteer to distribute gifts to the kids this year and see the joy that Hands to Heart is bringing these kids. Thank you, Michael, for all your hard work.”

Stryten Energy is honored to support Michael and Hands to Heart.

Helping Students Prepare for Their Futures

Kansas State University

Stryten Energy’s plant in Salina, KS, partnered with Kansas State University in a program for freshman and sophomores majoring in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Robotic and Automation Engineering Technology. The students were led through the facility to see the plant’s automation, robots, and new and old technology. Stryten is honored to help students prepare for their future.

Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech engineering students studying flow batteries toured Stryten’s Advanced Manufacturing Plant (AMP) and headquarters in Alpharetta, GA. The students saw the new vanadium redox flow battery assembled in the AMP just before it shipped to the customer site. This experience provided students with insight into the innovation happening in the energy storage industry.
